Both here in the United States and across the world in China, Lincoln’s 2016 sales are an excellent sign. U.S. sales finished off with a 10% gain, Lincoln’s best sales in nine years. In addition, sales in China tripled over the past year, making Lincoln the fastest-growing luxury brand there.
“The momentum is both gratifying and encouraging,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, The Lincoln Motor Company. “We’re pleased clients are recognizing the superior experiences and vehicles Lincoln offers.”
Here in the U.S., Lincoln’s sales growth was especially significant. Lincoln saw a 10% growth, while the rest of the luxury market grew by less than 1%. The best markets for Lincoln included New York with sales growth of 13%; Florida, which was up by 10%; and New Jersey, where sales jumped 9%.
The all-new Continental helped give 2016 a big finish, with December sales up 18% when compared to December 2015. In fact, the flagship Continental was single-handedly responsible for 64% of December growth.
In December, Lincoln sold 1,845 Continental sedans, up from 1,419 in November. In addition, the Continental outsold both the Audi A6 and Lexus GS.
Here at Mountaineer Lincoln, we had a great 2016, too. And, with these excellent sales numbers, we can’t wait to see what 2017 brings.
