New Lincoln Lineup Names Being Considered

It looks like Lincoln might be changing model names up—again. The American carmaker recently introduced the new Lincoln Continental concept at the 2015 New York Auto Show, and it didn’t just indicate the future design direction of the brand—it also highlighted the possibility of changing up the current slightly confusing MK model names.

During a recent interview with Automotive News, Ford President of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, admitted that the current naming system, which uses the MK initials, can be confusing for those not familiar with the models. He then suggested that Lincoln might differentiate itself by leveraging its heritage.

Hinrichs stated, “Without divulging the future, we’re very excited about the Continental name and the attention it’s gotten.” While Hinrichs doesn’t explicitly state that there will be new Lincoln lineup names, it does indicate that it’s a possibility.
